HMT Erin

 

HMT Erin was a 392 ton anti-submarine trawler which was blown up in February 1942 whilst moored inside the South Mole. She was later dumped off the north end of the detached mole, where she sits now in 16 to 28 metres of water. HMT Erin is broken up into two pieces. The bow sits in 16 to 24 metres of water in the slope down the detached mole, and the stern lies 40 metres west from the bow, in 28 metres of water.

 

Locals call the wreck the inner and the outer. Inner been the bow and outer been the stern. There is also a large anchor sitting between both parts of the wreck.
